I think we are in for a hellacious ride now that they have left labels behind and taken control of the reigns themselves. Part of that plan includes exposing people worldwide to their musical strength something that should’ve been done long ago. Today, Adelitass Way is more focused and determined to prove their worth than ever. This band has so much heart even through the minor setbacks that they’ve encountered in the past. After speaking with Rick about the band’s struggles, the balancing act of trying to be a family man and entertainer, and the validity of their music in the industry as a whole, all of the reasons that fans love them were fortified. On this beautiful and very important Saturday afternoon, the day of his daughter’s birthday party, Rick still set aside time to talk to me allowing me to dig deeper into what makes Adelita’s Way tick. As a fan of Adelitas Way, myself, I was eager to interview Rick DeJesus. It includes their current hit single ‘I Get Around”, and believe me, it is certainly getting its share of “deserved” air time. They have just released a 5-song EP titled “Deserve This”, which is the prelude to their upcoming fourth album.
The band is continuing to push forward without the boundaries of a label. These songs are very worthy of topping the charts in my opinion. It is true that typically, only a couple of songs from an album make it to the single category, but songs like “Undivided”, “Drive” and ‘Something More” needed a chance to prove their strength. There were so many great songs on this CD that were never released as singles. The songs were well received but for such a wonderfully written and performed album, I was shocked that more did not come from it. The album produced two hits that aired on stations like Sirius/XM Octane. Knowing what the band had musically produced with their past two albums, people were exceedingly eager to own this new release. By the time their third album “Stuck” dropped publicly, their single “Dog on a Leash” had already been playing for a couple of months and was already a Top 10 hit on rock charts. The band was becoming more known to us all. All of these songs landed on the Billboard Charts. The release of their second album “Home School Valedictorian” pushed out more great songs, including the extremely popular “Sick” and “Criticize”, along with “The Collapse”. With that song already topping charts, the release of their S/T first album in 2009 was a defining moment for the band. © James Christopher Monger & Rich Wilson /TiVoAdelitas Way formed in 2006 in their hometown of Las Vegas, Nevada, though their breakout single “Invincible” did not come for three more years. June 2020 saw the arrival of the driving single "Shine On," which appeared on the LP of the same name later that September. 2017's Notorious included the singles "Tell Me" and "Ready for War (Pray for Peace)," the latter of which served as the theme song to TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs, a WWE pay-per-view event. 2015 saw the arrival of the Deserve This EP, and the following year, the band released Getaway, their fourth studio long-player and first outing for their fledgling indie label Vegas Syn.
In July 2013 the group entered the studio with Grammy Award-winning producer Nick Raskulinecz to record Stuck, which was released the following year and featured the hit single "Dog on a Leash," which peaked at number seven on the U.S. At the end of 2012, writing began for the band's third album, while only six months later, Keith Wallen and Derek Johnston announced that they were leaving. Standing at the nexus of post-grunge, alternative metal, and hard rock, the band issued two more LPs with Virgin before going the independent route with the release of 2016's Getaway, which like subsequent efforts Notorious (2017) and Shine On (2020), arrived on the group's own Vegas Syn label.įormed in the late 2000s by lead vocalist Rick DeJesus and lead guitarist Chris Iorio, the band (which also included rhythm guitarist Keith Wallen, bassist Derek Johnston, and drummer Trevor Stafford) released its eponymous debut on Virgin Records in July 2009, which included the aforementioned hit single "Invincible." The band's sophomore effort, Home School Valedictorian, arrived in summer 2011 and featured new lead guitarist Robert Zakaryan after Iorio left the group within five months of their debut's release. Las Vegas rockers Adelitas Way found mainstream success in 2009 with the song "Invincible," which appeared on their eponymous major-label debut and served as the theme song for the weekly World Wrestling Entertainment Superstars show.
